I"m trying to convert some .mov files from my Aiptek camera, and ran across an article on the Net that said you can use TmpGenc. They made it sound so easy, but of course, it doesn't work that way.

I have the Quicktime reader vpa (whatever) plugin, but I'm getting a white screen - no picture or sound. I had changed the aspect, the frame rate from 60 to 30 (29.xx), etc- standard for DVD, but still no luck. Are there some other settings I"m overlooking?

THe quicktime reader is very old and does not support all movs. Maybe try something else to convert your movs like mpeg streamclip, avidemux, xvid4psp, winff . Or use mp4cam2avi and try make an avi from the mov. Or use quicktime alternative and be sure that tmpgenc uses directshow reading(increase the directshow priority in the settings).

I see. I downloaded RAD Video Tools, but it seems to export only as avi - rather slow. I'll check out your suggestions.
