  1. I have been searching but have yet to find a DVD Player with a SD Slot that plays not only still pictures but also the AVI movies from a SD Card. With some of the newer Camcorders that now record movies directly to SD-Cards there has to be at least one DVD player out there that supports this. Other than download to my computer and then either just burn to a data DVD or convert/author a DVD, both of which I can do now. Any help?

If your AVI files are Divx/Xvid with MP3 audio (probably not) you could use something like the Philips DVP 5990 and a USB/SD card adapter.

Unfortunately, digital cameras and camcorders use too many different codecs and containers for this to be practical.

The PS3 might, but I couldn't guarantee it supports playback of all digital camera formats from an SD card... or even if all models of the PS3 have an SD card slot. It's a bit of an expensive 'solution' for the problem, too.

Note that many of the set-top DVD players that do accept AVI/MPEG/WMV won't allow video over DVD resolution (720x576, for example), so if you're planning on shooting HD video, it won't play on those players.

You might be better off with a media center setup in this case, I don't know.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

There's also the WD TV HD Media Center. It can play many different types of media files, even HD files. You would still need a USB/SD adapter.

Some BD players such as Panasonic and Sony support AVCHD video from a SD card,as jagabo mentioned you need a card reader to play DivX on players with a USB port.Make sure you get an SDHC card because they use FAT32 which has universal compatibility.
