minidv2dvd is quite correct. The commercial software makers caved in to Hollywood and took out the ability to play BluRay and HD DVD content from a hard disk in recent releases of WinDVD and PowerDVD. Since Cyberlink will not sell you a copy of the old PowerDVD that would do this, you're on your own to figure out a way to acquire a copy of it. And note that only some 7.3 versions of PowerDVD will do this. At some point there was a patch to 7.3 that took this away. You'll have to do the research on the internet to figure out which version this was.
I can tell you that PowerDVD was horribly inconsistent in HD DVD playback. Some discs would play in version 6.5 and nothing else. Some might play in version 7.0 and nothing else. Others might play in 6.5 and 7.0 and nothing else or in 6.5 and 7.2 and nothing else and so on. Some might play in all versions between 6.5 and 7.3.
