  1. Hello,

I have been recording onto DVD+RW for months with the Goodman DVDG306R but I've recently been running into problems with the DVD being read. I'm not sure is it the Recorder or the disks that is the problem. I don't think it's the disks as I've been trying on fresh disks. Is there any program I can use on Linux to reformat the disks to make sure there's no issue with the disk.

    Regards,
    David

Nero Linux can format, or K3B and Gnome's built in media burner will blank the RW.

    dvd+rw-format -force=full /dev/dvd
    dvd+rw-format /dev/dvd
Where /dev/dvd is your dvd burner.

BTW, DVD+/-RW are only good for so many writes. ~1,000 or less, usually much less. Depending on the quality of the disc, some degrade in as little as 10-20 rewrites.

I've been having the same problem on Memorex DVD+RW with LG RC700N DVD Recorder + VCR. I too need to format these DVDs and I was wondering if the media code can say anything about what went wrong in trying to format the DVD with LG. The given information is from the DVD.

Also is applying a DVD lens cleaner good enough for maintenance of these DVD Recorders?

ImgBurn works under Linux if you have WINE installed.

Hey John, just wondering - what would/can IMG burn do that can't be done with Nero Linux, or in the case of free - K3B? I know many people didn't know that Nero Linux can read MIDs and set book type, but so can cdrecord (cdrecord -media-info/ -minfo/-atip) and DVD+RW-tools (dvd+rw-mediainfo), dvd+rw-booktype to set the book type.

It's been a while since I've looked at IMG burn
