I have recently bought a copy of WWE Royal Rumble 1999 and 2000 tagged classic on dvd, however, on both of the DVD's, mainly over the referee's shirts, the pixels get all blothcy, I wanted to know if this is a problem with the DVD or its just how it was put onto DVD.

There are also fast parts on the DVD where the screen cuts in half kinda thing, but I think that's an interlace problem.

    Here's an example:

The cutting in half sounds more like you are using a software player and it is out of sync with the screen refresh. Interlacing doesn't create the feect you describe.

Have you watched these on your TV with a standard DVD player ? Do you have the same problems then ?

yes, it still happens but now that I see it in slow motion, its more of a camera jitter:

However, the blotchy pixels thing looks like a digital transfer gone wrong, I sent a picture to silvervision, I am going to see what they say about it.

A definitive test would be to get a second copy of the DVD and see if it has the same errors.

if it works fine on another computer , the dvd is fine. then do some soul searching with your Dshow filters for the problem. If it does the same thing on another rig then get new copy of the dvd with a diffrent batch number. Often a batch is bad so that very well may be the case. Also WWE dont exactly hire hollywoods finest to do the digital transfer......

I got an e-mail from silvervision, they said its a problem on these dvd's that they can't get rid of, so its ok.

Another thing, there is a part on the DVD where it skips when I play it on my PS3, however, when I play it on my PC, there is no skip. The disc is DL but wouldn't it also skip on the PC?

Not necessarily, some readers are more resilient than others

You should get at least a partial refund from Silvervision!

They sold you a faulty product, and acknowledged it.

e.g. Maybe you can convince them to send you some vouchers/coupons for your next DVD if they value your business as a customer

I agree I would send back the DVD and ask for a refund for selling a faulty product. Yeah they are nicce for at least saying theres a fault. But it is no diffrent than a manufacturer doing a recall on a product when something is wrong. As for the DVD , computer drives are WAAAAY more robust and have C2 error correction , macroblock concealment in software, huge buffers, etc so it has time to 'fix' the frame before it actually has to be show. I bought a faulty dvd before and ass long as the dvd is defective they HAVE TO replace the dvd , some companys will even do a refund. well tata

Yes but what's on the DVD's are great. However, I have watched other wrestling DVD's such as a superstar specific DVD such as Mick Foley, it has the same match that I have of the royal rumble in there and the quality looks loads better and its produced by silvervision too.

The DVD in your first post was probably recorded off a satellite or cable TV feed (hence the WWF logo and marginal resolution). The image problems were likely caused by reception errors and are part the recording on the DVD. The other DVDs you refer to are likely from something closer to the original recordings.

so why is WWE using its original recordings in earlier DVD's and their satelite recordings for their newer DVD's. These tagged classics have only recently been released.

This is the email I had sent today:

I have recently purchased a copy of WWE Royal Rumble 1999 and 2000 Tagged Classics on DVD. However, on both DVD's, where the referee is shown, much of the pixels get blotchy on the strippy shirt, as the link shows below:
    http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/7370/example1.jpg

I did recieve an reply from silvervision as to if this was intended, and it was, however, I also own "Mick Foley's Greatest Hits & Misses" on DVD, and the Royal Rumble 2000 match against Triple HHH on this DVD (which is also on the tagged classic DVD i purchased) is recorded in better quality and no blotchy pixels. Why is this so, even though the tagged classics had been released after this mick foley DVD?

    Thank You

This is the reply I recieved:

The Tagged Classics comes from our original masters but the Mick Foley DVD is made from a new master made by the WWE specifically for that release.

    Kind regards

And their masters are fucked up. Your only choices are to live it or stop buying it.
