Need suggestions for a tool or a program to split a large FLV flash file into smaller FLV files (not necessary equal).

    Thank you.

I just wanted to cut off a segment of an flv this morning n im inexperienced like so i pop up my all in one mega converter and i have some error(transcoder=mediaconverter off sourceforge) and im not so used to its interface. so i hit the net, download some simple flv and other converters off the net, try em and no luck, then i try this FILE SPLITTER... Looks like a tool for non extension specific file splitting n joinin. snappy download, had to specify breaking point in megabytes when i ran it- no duration basis(ur specification=(your duration/Total duration)*total file size). renamed the first segment of the dual piece output to .flv and hit it voila i got it(and no settings specified). btw, windows media player dosent open some youTube flvs of mine I use the classic player cummin with K-Lite Codec pack( It has a cute MediaInfo tool too). You might need to hit start menu Klite codec audio settings to allow flv playback. thats easy. I just registered to drop this post(wont read replies i suppose)

This isn't a reply to the OP, rather to the info that Victor2 suggested---> DON'T DO IT!!!

File cutting of media files requuires apps that are aware of the frame & sample & riff/packet/atom nature of media files. Media files also need accurate metadata/headers (in each file segment) to enable correct interpretation & rendering/output. Simple file-level splitters (such as was suggested, HJSplit, etc) are UNAWARE of these needs and only cut on byte-limit boundaries. Therefore, they would likely corrupt a media file beyond repair. You might get lucky if the part to be split is at the very beginning of the file, but even then, you're likely to encounter playback problems after a certain point.

If you need to cut/join, use an appropriate media editor, such as some suggested by Baldrick, or more full-featured editors like Vdub or even Vegas, etc.
