Are the ID numbers just assigned in sequence or do they contain information about the stream.
Is a particular stream always 80 and why is the DTS stream 89.
I noticed that when using Muxman to add a (only one instead of the original four) subpic which was id 26 and 27, was reassigned as 20 and 21.
Any link to a discussion would be welcome.

It shouldn't carry any info, no. It may just be oddness on behalf of muxman
There are certain defined "areas" in the hex number range for certain types of streams though - e.g. subpics start from 20, audio from 80, and certain types of audio also have ranges at points above that. So it does roughly indicate what the stream type is, but no more than that. Allocation is/can be completely arbitary (though of course, good practice to have your main ones at 20, 80 etc) and doesn't matter a bean - the language, number of channels etc is defined elsewhere.-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
