  1. I have a FLV video and I want to transfer the video & audio stream to AVI (wihtout re-encoding, that means I don't want to loss any quality from the original video). I use AVI for destination container because I want to edit it with virtualdub later.

This is the FLV video information extracted by MediaInfo:
    Code:
    Format : Flash Video
    File size : 13.1 MiB
    Duration : 6mn 17s
Overall bit rate : 290 Kbps
    Tagging application : FlixEngineLinux_8.0.10.1 (www.on2.com)

    Video
    Format : VP6
    Duration : 6mn 17s
    Bit rate : 212 Kbps
    Width : 352 pixels
    Height : 200 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16/9
    Frame rate : 30.000 fps
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.101
    Stream size : 9.79 MiB (75%)

    Audio
    Format : MPEG Audio
    Format version : Version 1
    Format profile : Layer 3
    Duration : 6mn 17s
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 64.0 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 2 channels
    Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
    Resolution : 16 bits
    Video delay : 5ms
    Stream size : 2.88 MiB (22%)
So I will use SUPER 2009 to do the task. There are the options I would select:
    1. I choose "AVI" in "Select Output Container".
    2. I choose "FFmpeg" for the encoder.
    3. I check "Stream Copy" in Video section.
    4. I check "Stream Copy" in Audio section.

I've tried it with that settings and the FLV video was transfered to AVI successfully. But what I'm very concerned is the quality of the output video (AVI).

    The question:
After what I've done above, is there any quality loss in the output video (AVI) compared to the source video?
Of course, as we know, I've checked the "Stream Copy" so the source video stream should be copied to output video container, but I'm still worried about this issue. Is there anybody could confirm this?

I have same question too for copying SWF stream to AVI.

Nope, it shouldn't reconvert. How long does it take when you run it? If several minutes then something is wrong.

You could also use FLV Extract, it will make an avi and mp3 that you can import in Virtualdub.

Thanks for the confirmation. The source video file size is 13 MB, it only took less than 1 minute to finish the task.

Thanks for the suggestion. Alternative way is to use FLV Input Plugin which no need to import the audio. But the downside is FLV Extract cannot handle SWF. Do you know tool for extracting stream in SWF without decompressing/recompressing? Do you know a tool for copying stream from SWF to AVI besides SUPER?

Btw, I just found out there is a big difference in size of the output AVI from between SUPER and using FLV Input Plugin. The output AVI size from SUPER is 21.6 MB, while the AVI size from FLV Input Plugin is 13.2 MB. Do you know what's the cause of this?
