Which settings for StaxRip and DVD => mkv (x264) ?

I'd like to know how to simply open a DVD in StaxRip. I read all these things that made me think it'd be a great alternative to Handbrake (which can't seem to get chapters right for me), but I can't even get started. In Handbrake I just select a DVD folder and it processes it and lets me select a title to encode. It seems like StaxRip might be limited to processing single VOB files, no different than if I were to give it an .mpg file, in which case it isn't a remotely useable Handbrake alternative, IMO.
