  1. So I got my 5.1 ch system set up, I can tell it works because in windows sound config. I can click on any individual speaker and that speaker will play a sound separately.

When I play a game on my PC the 5.1 surround works, but when I play a blu-ray rip or blu-ray disc (or any other movie type), only the 2 main speakers work.

I use windows media player classic "hometheater" and VLC.

How can I make the surround work on movies too?

    thanks

I would try ac3 filter. Install it and then configure it so it outputs to your 5.1 system and enable ac3 and dts decoding(it is enabled by default). Play with Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
