x264 encoder from x264.nl or videolan.org?

I'm confused!
Who's managing the x264 encoder?
Releases always used to come from x264.nl, but recently videolan.org has started issuing releases as well.
Are there differences between the releases from these two sources?
If not, then maybe the two parties would better decide who's going to take the lead.
If these sources are not the same, then how are we going to tell the difference?

videolan manages the source and x264.nl hosts windows builds. Or does videolan also host windows builds now?
