Greetings ...
As most as us know - and should, even if you don't - your local cable company transmits the HDTV sub-channel (plus maybe one or more SDTV sub-channels) of local digital broadcast stations in digital form for free over the cable.
But in several cases, that may be where then fun ends.
Case in point is the picture comparisions I've being doing this weekend. For instance, the HDTV sub-channel picture on the ABC, CBS and NBC local stations (Fox, n/a; PBS Digital not transmitted) appears to be presented by my cable company as fullscreen 4:3. This is in contrast to a 16:9 letterbox presentation (or 16:9 zoom-1/zoom-2) as delivered thru the Channel Master CM-7000 OTA Digital Converter Box I use to pick up the local stations.
This has simply been an observational report. You may submit experiences of your own. Also, which 16:9 aspect would you prefer the cable companies to show OTA stations in - letterbox, zoom-1 or zoom-2.
Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Video
