    I used to use some tools for cataloging images so when they are offline (for example backed up to DVDs), they were still available in the search -- it would prompt me to "Load DVD x".

    Is there anything like this in the video world? We will essentially have volumes that we archive.

    This is usually done by manually indexing clips/images and including searchable key works in the meta data.
