Memorex 8.5gb dvd+r dl 8x, freezes my pc

Hello!Why isit when i insert a Memorex 8.5gb dvd+r dl 2x disc it reads on my pc . But when i insert a Memorex 8.5gb dvd+r dl 8x, my pc just freezes and never reads it.Even blank 8.5gb dvd+r dl 8x.
Whats the problem??
I checked device manager. My dvd drive is under 'DVD/CD ROM Drives'. Its all there, and the firmware is updated.
Any help please.Thank You.

The offending dic is a blank one or has something on it?

Off the top unistall the dvd drive in device manager, just right click it, and uninstall and re-boot.

May fix problem.

The burner may not have a burning solution for Memorex DL+ 8X. You would have to find out who makes the Memorex. (Manufacturer)

But I would just try Verbatim DL + 8X and you might have better luck.

EDIT: All the above references are for burning a DL, not reading it. Sorry to confuse.

rule of thumb when using DVD+R DUAL LAYER MEDIA is use only VERBATIM. all the other brands will render problems when either burning or reading the disc back.
