Okay, so I'm putting together a pilot and one of the scenes is a "Host", which he is counting down the best country music videos. Well, I'm working in a:
***FCP Timeline Information***
-HD 1920X1080, 29.97fps, 160.2 MB/sec, Field Dominance (Upper (ODD) )
Well, I'm keying in a music video which happens to be a m2v file that I converted from a DVD. Here are my following steps:
1.) Used Mac The Ripper to grab the Music Video off the DVD. (.m2v and PCM)
2.) Converted the PCM to aiff.
3.) Brought both files (.m2v / aiff) into FCP.
***.m2v file information***
-640 x 480, 29.97fps, 1001.1k/sec, Field Dominance (none)
4.) Then I place the video into the timeline.
5.) Once I watch it for playback, the music video happens to have jagged edges (Assuming a Interlace issue) and also it seems to have a interlace skip every 2-4 seconds. Everything else is fine. It's just the m2v file that is acting up in the timeline. I've export from Quick Time to see if I get any different results, but still empty handed!
***My ending Format***
Broadcast SD, 29.97, 720x480(16x9) to keep the ratio in perspective, due to the fact that we shot in HD.
I'm not sure if my work flow for ripping a DVD went sour, but I was wondering is there any way to fix this in FCP? or do I have to start all over? Meaning, do I have to start back from Ripping the music video from the DVD in a different way?
Any help would be great. Also, If I missed something, please let me know and I'll fill you in.
Cheers,
-Murray

you forgot a side step.
Rip with MTR (as you did) to Title Select.
Open Rip in MpegStreamclip with QT-Mpeg-2 option,
fix time code breaks, and convert
the music video to DV Stream.
Import the DV Stream file into FCP.
no skips, no jaggies.
FCP is quicktime based. Quicktime prefers DV Stream for its
NLE apps ( iMovie, FCE, FCP)."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
