best dvd recorder for me?

i started another thread but never got any real straight answers, i was looking for one with a hard drive, but im not sure what to get, im hearing so many different things

-i use it 2-3 hours everyday
-have a 50" plasma
-most stuff i record i just tape over and barely keep anything, just special events like superbowl
-is there any discs that you can keep recording over and over without any problems instead of buying stacks of them
