I have been using VobSub for along time and never experienced a single problem. I was also very delighted by the easy tool SubReSync... The fact is that in the past few months SubReSync won't start. I have the latest version of VobSub and everything seems to be working fine except SubReSync and SubMux.
I can't say much more because they don't crash or anything, they simply won't start at all. But...
Last time I installed WinXP I immediately installed VobSub and the mentioned apps worked... I suspect it's either because I have the DirectVobSub filter installed with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, or because of certain Windows updates... Does anyone have the same problem or maybe knows how to fix this? I already tried SubRip and realised it sucks because it's very inacurate and tiresome for me.

EDIT - Okay, sorry, found the answer 5 min. after posting this, but I'll keep it up for others that may not know abou this. Appearently, the problem is within IE8 beta... Jus uninstall this and use IE6 or 7 and it'll work just fine.

    Hello, dear all.

I'm here to tell you that when I just have uninstalled IE8 (it's updates) and back go to previous version, like 6 or 7, even DVD Shrink (which coudn't be opened properly without crashing since then) just works allright again! :P

In other words: do not use IE 8, because it's have many unstable code, causing errors in many other programs, just DVD Shrink or vobsub, for example.

Wait for stable and very tested (and final) version instead.

    Thanks for the advice, Gornot!

    Best regards.

Right, I have the same problem. I have IE8 final installed with SP3. Even in the final of IE8 they did not fix this problem.
I would just rollback IE8, but because I have SP3 installed, I can't do this without also rolling back to SP2.

I have some programs with dependencies on the OS being SP3. I would rather not have to rollback to SP2, uninstall IE8 then reinstall SP3.

Is there some other solution this problem or am I going to have to uninstall rollback my service pack too?

    Great, thank you so much!

    Now it's working, just un-installed IE8 and it's updates...

Was on the brink of loosing it altogether...

This is happening to me..but I'm sure I've used subresync since I updated to IE8. Is there anything else causing this problem? I remember using subresync like 2 weeks ago or so..but today I needed it and nada.
I really can't uninstall IE8, so there has got to be another solution to this.

Can you restore the system prior one month ago, maybe? Or install again your Windows system, fixing possible files damage or "corrupted" files.

Try uninstall IE8. Instead, use previous version like 6 or 7.

PS: IE is not good browser in my opinion. Try to use Firefox, Opera, Safari or Chrome.

    Best regards.

I actually formatted not that long ago. I know I had IE8 before and seem to recall using Subresync during that time.

I use firefox all the time, but note my location. Korea runs on activex and 99% of in country websites are designed exclusively for IE and will not function in Firefox, so not using IE is not an option.

has no one been able to figure out what it is exactly that is installed with IE8 that makes sub resync fall apart?

  11. Try this fix:

    http://css.setti.info/~perplexer/vob...bsub223fix.zip

Should be working alongside IE8 also.

    That worked great...

But now a new problem since the latest patches for XP (SP3). Subresync starts, but when I try to do anything I get an error:
    Code:
    MoleBox launcher fatal error
    Error at <stripped>:48
    Reason: ASSERTION failed
    any suggestions?

Well, I am glad that the solution I accidentally found helped you guys.
Needless to say that VobSub works on Win7 with IE8, so ditch XP and upgrade :P

  24. I am trying to assign .sub to subresync so that I can open the sub file with subresync by double clicking but double clicking only brings up the subresync open dialog.

    What am I doing wrong?
