    Hello,

    I have a JVC camcorder GR-D60E http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/digital-camcorder/jvc-gr-d-60e/
I don't use this anymore since i bought a new camcorder, but i still have a lot of dv tapes
i need to transfer to dvd.
I hooked it up to my computer (Dell Inspiron 530) with Windows Vista Home editon Service pack 1.
I used the usb connection and Pinnacle 9 for the transfer.
Now, Vista recognises the camera and Pinnacle transfers the videos.
But in the preview window the picture is of a very bad quality, like a webcam.
The resolution is terrible. I saved a small clip using the best settings,
but when i play back the clip it's still like i'm watching a webcam.

Could it be that i'm using the usb connection instead of a firewire card ? Which i don't
have. If this is the case, what kind of firewire card can you recommend ?

Or is it some other problem ?

    Thanks for your time.
    Maarten

Yes, you need firewire. I don't use buggy ol' Vista, and most people report that Pinnacle SUCKS -- but if I were you, I'd also use different capturing software, like simple-but-reliable WinDV.

  4. firewire 400 1394a is fine, just make sure the card will work with whatever your computer has for open motherboard slots. pci, pci-e ?
