Playback problems on DVDs recorded on Samsung DVD R155

(why do I find it so hard to type Samsung? Ah well...)

At work, I use a Samsung DVD R155 to record programmes off TV for playback in lessons (I work in an FE college) on computers, however, a couple of minutes into a chapter the playback stops. This happens no matter what software I use to play it; we have Windows Media Player (the most commonly used one), RealPlayer and CyberLink PowerDVD on the computers, and I have also tried it in Media Player Classic. Each time the same problem occurs.

Does anybody know why this is, or any way I can solve this problem?

I'd question the recording. If the same problem occurs with multiple players, then there is likely an issue with your recordings.

Yes, I'd already figured that it was the recording. What I am asking is whether it's fixable (for future recordings) or workaroundable (for existing recordings, for instance ripping and reburning).

Does it playback properly in the recorder? It's possible the data isn't even on the disc, in which case it can't be fixed.

What brand of blank disc was used? See www.nomorecoasters.com
You might have used a cheap disc, and the disc is bad.
