    Hi

Is there a way of using Microsoft’s MPEG-2 decoder with CyberLink’s audio
    decoder on WMP11 (x86)?

In WinXP, we had the option of choosing which codes we preferred for
    decoding DVDs using WMP.

In Vista however, there isn't seems to be any option, at least not to my
    knowledge anyway.

    Thanks for reading

    one last thing

If it cannot be done under WMP, can you recommend me an alternative media player where it is possible to choose the A/V codecs separately?

PS: I have tried MPC-HC (x86), and I can't use hardware acceleration and the brightness is slightly elevated for some reason.

    I'm afraid not

That's only effective under Vista x86

You should be able to override the brightness by adjusting the overlay settings in your gfx card drivers. Are you running current drivers ?

overlay has been removed in vista, but I know what you mean

Anyway, that's what I've been doing. But it get's a little annoying as I use an HDTV to view movies and I really would prefer using the AVIVO (ATI's UVD)

  7. Disable Aero and Vista will use overlays.

    Update:

Enabling EVR mode in MPC-HC automatically enables DXVA.

PS: I use MS's MPEG-2 codec with PowerDVD's audio codec
