For some reason when encoding region-free DVDs from a VIDEO_TS folder on my hard disk into xvid (avi mencoder, customised preset), the progress percentages shown in the ffmpegX Progress window are much lower than reality

i.e. I set off a conversion and the progress does go up, but very slowly, to about 20% or so at most, then jumps to 100% completion and the video is indeed properly complete.

Is this a bug or a known issue?

    Tom

There are some known inaccuracies in the progress percentage, but I do not recall the behavior that you describe.

Given that this is reproducable, should I file a bug report, and if so, how?

There is a "ffmpegX bugs and suggestions" forum here, where it could be posted. Perhaps you could use the "Report this post" link (in the first message) to ask a moderator to move this topic there.
