    I believe you mean the 'dye' faded away. Isn't the recordable surface of dvds reffered to as dye and not ink?

    Well whatever it is called, it is not something that lasts. I think people are getting mixed up with the reliability of manufactured CDs/DVDs, which are said to last over 100 years, and thinking burnable CDRs/DVDRs are the same.

    The other problem is people think CD and DVD can be lumped together, when discussing longevity. They really cannot, at a certain point. Your experience with CD-R has nothing to do with DVD, or even other CD-R for that matter.
