Need Help with Panasonic DVD-LS83 or DVD-LS86 8" Portable DVD Player!

Has anyone figured out how to access the service menu and/or change the region? Thanks!

Google search-several stores selling LS83 already 0 region hacked,at least one is based in USA,might be in your town.Also search ebay-region hack remotes are available for LS83.

wraeththu's post may be giving you false hope. Speciality players (portables, combos like DVD/TV or DVD/VHS, home theater systems) have always been incredibly difficult to unlock. Very few portables have ever been able to be unlocked. In the USA and Canada the situation is pretty grim as most manufacturers happily comply with Hollywood's request to produce players that cannot be made region free. The BluRay licensing agreement actually specifically forbids producing region free players, even if only for DVD playback.

If you've search on the internet for a hack and can't find one then it probably doesn't exist. If you find one it may not work because of hardware differences between your model sold in the USA and ones sold elsewhere, such as Australia, where the hack may still work. I cannot personally advise you to buy a remote like wraeththu talks about as it simply may not work on an American model. It's up to you to decide if you feel lucky and want to buy one with the knowledge that it may not work at all.

See this disturbing thread where wraeththu admits that the remotes may no longer work. It seems to be at odds with the advice he's given you here.
