Favorite analog clean-up scripts for FAVC?

I plan on capturing analog VHS, 8mm and Hi8 tapes to my PC via DV/Firewire. From there, I want to make DVD's from the input. It seems my tool of choice may be FAVC and the excellent HCEnc encoder.

In order to make things easy & consistent, are there some preferred generic scripts to use from within FAVC that will clean up most analog video without doing much damage? Something light is preferred in order to help with the compression.

I don't need anything extravagant, but would like something simple that will help clean it up a bit during the encoding process. I may or may not use FAVC to actually author the DVD. I might use TMPGEnc DVD Author, so I plan on keeping the temp files from FAVC.

virtualdub / avisynth these are the tools to clean videos
encoding / author is another business
If Henc accept frameserved files, then you can encode with it directly i suppose

Short answer - No.

Every tape requires it's own treatment, and every person here has their own preferences for the type of results they want. Some like light denoising and little else. Some like it so smooth it looks like plastic. Some tapes have drop outs or tracking noise to remove. Some tapes need sharpening. Some can't be sharpened without increasing other artifacts. Everything needs to be treated on it's own merits.

The choice of denoiser depends on the visual characteristics of your source file. The following uses a function called Temporaldegrain (found at Doom9). Works great, runs at a blazing 3-5fps.

If you want something that runs very fast and merely helps with space compression, look at a plugin called RemoveGrain . Slower but arguably better is Fft3dfilter . Again, it depends on your source.

AutoMKV has a bunch of Avisynth plugins and functions which you can quickly sample to see the visual difference.
