Help with Alpine IVA-D300

I am having problem finding a media that will work with this head unit. Only one that worked so far is Ritek 16x DVD+R

The following are not working.
Ritek 8x DVD-R (would have thought this would work?)
Sony 16x DVD-R
Verbatum 4x DVD-R

All disc are burnt with Nero 6.3.1.17 I have also tried Imgburn 2.4.2.0 with no luck. No other burning software on the PC.

All the above discs work fine in my PC, the house DVD players, and laptops.

Discs are burnt with Philips SPD2413P with the latest firmware, tried at max and min burning speed.

Anything else should I try?

The recommended media is typically Verbatim or Taio Yuden. The Verbatim discs you tried, based on speed anyway, appear to older, although it shouldn't matter.

And although the unit supposed supports -R media, the few responses listed for your player ( http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/...-iva-d300/5619 ) would appear to indicated no one has been able to get -R media to work.

I'd suggest contacting Alpine.

edit: on a side note, it could also be related to the content of the discs.

I would like to try Taio Yuden but hate to get a 100pc to find them don't work. Looks like I will have to call Alpine.
I guess in a way I was lucky to at least find one media that worked. Or else I would have thought that the player is broken.

Called up Alpine and they said there is a software update and they will mail me a CD.
Hope this disc works will update once I install it.

got the software update disc from Alpine.

once the unit is updated with new firmware. All DVD are now playable.
