  1. I have analog cable service with no cable box; the cable plugs directly into my DVD recorder that allows me to watch paid basic cable channels.

I have a DVD recorder with a tuner but the DVD recorder/playback function is broken. I'm considering buying a tunerless DVD recorder with VCR.

Can I daisy chain the broken DVD recorder with tuner, and the tunerless DVD recorder with VCR, and use the tuner in the broken DVD recorder to tape shows to the newer tunerless DVD recorder with VCR? Or will this not work? Or, should I just buy a DVD recorder with a tuner?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

  2. Although the simplest solution would to buy a DVD recorder with a tuner, your idea will work.

Just connect the audio/video out of the "tunered" DVD recorder to one of the audio/video inputs of the tunerless DVD recorder/VHS combo. Set the DVD recorder/VHS combo to record from that input and you're in business.
