It is a format exported out of the new set top boxes or home theaters more specifically Homecast.

try mediainfo and gspot and see what info they come up with. you might try renaming th efiles to end with .mpg and see if that helps.

I now have managed to open and view the files with Womble's Mpeg2vcr a little grainy but I'll see what can be done as end result.

According to this link http://www.abadss.com/forum/804-coolsat-8100-pvr-hd-help/76201-tpo-video-file-conversion.html the file extension is t-p-zero and can be converted with MPEG StreamClip. google is your friend. Also mentioned in this post https://forum.videohelp.com/topic331577.html referring to TP0 files

Thank you for the additional utility but seems to be wanting to install Quicktime Alternative rather than Quicktime itslef.

Yes MPEG StreamClip can covert *.TPO to *.mpg on the fly, good quality and then edit in videoredo no problems at all. I still do not kow why other options to convert are not available in Windows even though I have codecs and filters installed.

Finally and for other people benefit I have found that
DVR Studio Pro can make a DVD on the fly directly from these type of files although an expensive program.
