New laptop with vista sp1. I downloaded MPC 6.4.9.1 yesterday.
When I play a dvd, either the physical disc or a file on the harddrive, the audio plays a constant ticking sound, like it is using a wrong/bad codec.
The source files are from commercial DVDs with 2 ch ac3(1 audio track only). In "Audio Language", MPC shows that it is reading an "AC3, 48000 Mhz ... 2 channel"
If I open an audio only ac3 file, it plays ok. wav and mp3 files also play ok.
If I play the dvd using VLC, audio is fine.
Any ideas? (I checked out the mpc forum at sourceforge, saw 1 post on this problem, but didn't see anything that would help)

no, didn't install ac3filter
if I can play an audio only ac3 file ok, would I still need to install ac3filter to play a dvd with ac3 audio?
