Well, I got another year's worth of 3 machine Internet Security for $20, a 5 year warranty Maxtor 500 gig for $79; and then spent much of the savings on wireless headphones & such.

They made a big mistake in clustering all the e-stuff in one narrow aisle- mobsters driving Sports Utility Carts logjammed access to the back of the store, and I literally had to clamber over fallen endcaps to get my deals...

    How'd you do?

I bought two things online: a Seagate 750GB for $60, and a Pioneer external burner for $25. That concluded my Black Friday shopping, all from the comfort of my home in pajamas.

I did mine online as well. Got an HP EX470 MediaSmart Home Server plus another 1TB drive ($450 for both).

I need a central data archive plus auto backups for 5 Windows and 2 Mac machines. The EX470 also allows login from the field from any internet connected computer.

Later in the day I picked up an 8GB SD (level2) flash card at Staples for $17.99.

A shop worker has died after being knocked to the ground by bargain-hunters who stormed into a superstore in New York's suburbs as it opened. The 34-year-old man, along with several other workers and shoppers, was trampled in the rush at the Wal-Mart store in Valley Stream, Long Island. US stores opened early and offered steep discounts on Friday.

That news item above is both tragic and absurd.

I should probably have done it lordsmurf's way. But I went several freeway exits to Fry's, only managing to waste a little gas and a little time. Strikeout City: first item they did not carry, then two of their advertised deals they were of course sold out of, No Rainchecks. I bet they had around 3 or 4 of each item per store, which allows them to say they honored the terms of the ad special. To hell with them. No impulse buy on anything else, I walked.

the "local" outlet malls opened at 11P on Thanksgiving night.
Since it wasn't heavily advertised, we left about 1015 thinking we'd get there in plenty of time.
As we passed the Best Buy, the lot was already full and there were hundreds of people camped out (I didn't see anything special in their ad???).
about 3 miles from the outlet malls all 3 lanes of traffic on I-25 were stopped -- it was insane.
After sitting for a bit we decided to go further on to the next exit past the outlets and come back from the other direction as it seemed nobody was coming from that way.
We got right in!!! Called my sister who waited in line for over an hour on the off-ramp and told her what we did. Boy was she pissed!

Got some new slacks for work at 50% off and some new harnesses and toys for the puppy, as she likes to eat her harness if we leave it on her...

Went home and slept in till about 8 on Friday.
Lazed about and then went to a local comic shop that is going out of business to see if I could fill some gaps.
The place reeked of (what smelled like pretty high quality) ganja and was a freakin' ZOO!
I would have loved to help them out and buy a ton of back-issues, but the place was in such complete and utter dissaray that after about 90 minutes of picking, digging, and fighting I only found about 10 comics so I said screw it and went to another LCS where I wound up spending about $80.00.

All in all a pretty good day of hunting I suppose.
