I am using Microsoft Office 2007 WORD to write a liner for one of my DVDs. I click on the tab REVIEW and then the SPELLING and GRAMMAR CHECKER. I shows me that every word in my document is spelled wrong! Looking closer see that the SPELLING and GRAMMAR CHECKER is in another language - Spanish. I don't know Spanish and there are no Spanish words in my document - or my entire computer.

I click on the tab REVIEW and then I click on SET LANGUAGE and it says Spanish - Spain.

So, I set it to English - USA. I click on DEFAULT the I click on OK.

But nothing changes. I still shows that all the words are mis-spelled! When I check on SET LANGUAGE again I see that it reverted back to Spanish - Spain. Why?

    How do I fix this?

May sound silly, but did you select the entire document (CTRL+A) before you set the language to English?

Thanks for your advice. Yes, I did.

Is there a way to take out the part of the Microsoft Office 2007 software that spell checks Spanish? (I assume the language recognition software is built into Microsoft Office 2007 and not into Windows XP. ) This is so the Spell Checker only operates in English.

I suspect what is happening is that one word may seem to be Spanish (there are many Spanish words in English like taco, burrito, salsa, patio, omelet, nacho, tortilla, etc) and the Spell Checker recognizes that and thinks the entire document is Spanish.

Make sure that in Tools - "language", "select language", you have the "english" (US) activated. And deactivate the "detect language automatically"

    That will do the trick.
