    Hi all

Just bought this camcorder along with a generic (non-sony) HDMI-to-mini-HDMI convertor. I connected the camcorder to my Panasonic 42" HD ready plasma via a HDMI cable and the convertor, setup the camcorder via the menu to output to both TV and the LCD screen and also setup to output to HD TV. I try and play a recorded video and it appears on the camcorder LCd but not the screen.

I've tried a couple of different HDMI cables but still nothing. It could simply be the ebay-purchased convertor I bought but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had any problems?

Do I need to buy an actual Sony cable? Had a quick look on Amazon and they cost almost £30...this is a quite a lot for a cable that I will only use now-and-again.

As a side-note, I didn't have the camcorder plugged into the mains at the time, I was running it from the battery which I assume should be fine since it outputs fine via component cables.

    Cheers

Give the link to this "converter". All you should need is an HDMI to HDMI cable.

Also ID the model number for the camcorder.

According to this picture, the Sony HDR-SR12E has a normal HDMI connector. A simple HDMI-HDMI cable should work.

this is the connector i bought:-

The camcorder requries a mini-HDMI connector, hense the connector above.

The model number of the camcorder? It's a HDR-SR12E as per the topic title. Unless I'm missing something? Please ask if you need more details.

    Cheers

OK that should work HDMI to HDMI. Have you read the manual about settings to get an HDMI output? Maybe a call to Sony support is most efficient. Few of us own that particular camcorder model.
