I have a video file that I filmed on my digital camera. I am trying to work with it and it acts fine at first, but then in five minutes I get an error and Premiere is closing. After that when I try to open my project, I get an error right a way. It doesn't even get to load.
What could be a problem? I really need to fix this and get back to my project as soon as possible......
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Thanks for the info and sorry it took me long to reply. I was outside of home for a vacation and I am back now.
I downloaded that program and took a screenshot as I am not sure what exact info you need:
I am not sure what DV-AVI is and how it differs from .AVI. I don't even remember the original format. I filmed that video on my digital camera and after I had problems with it and Premiere I thought it might be the format. I was changing the format because I thought it might recode the file and give me a a proper version with no corruption. I am not sure that it IS the file that is corrupted because I tried editing it on several computers and I would always get an error after what program closes =/
Let me know what other information/screenshots you need me to provide, in order to best describe my situation and find a solution!
Thanks,
will be waiting for replies.
PS: I was clicking around and thought you might ask me for this: I clicked "Debug" -> "Advanced mode" and here is what I got:

Download and install this:

That's the XVID codec. Once installed, reboot the computer, restart Premiere CS3. It should now have an XVID codec in the DirectX library, which Premiere pulls from to get some of its codecs. It does not natively support MPEG-4, but will after you've got the codec installed.
DO NOT INSTALL A "CODEC PACK"! Just install the one codec as I've instructed.
That should be all you need.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Didn't help.
In fact it lead to even more problems. Now, when I single-click on the video file in a folder it gives me the following error:
Sometimes I don't even get to click the file and it give me that error.
One more thing. Premiere Pro was able to view and work with the file for some period of time. I tried to start a new project and I would get that problem when I get to a certain place I guess. So I really thing it is a problem with the file, not the codec.
And just like always when I open my project it is asking me for a lost file (since I am on another computer right now) and when I finally post that avi file Premiere gives me the following error:
and then Premiere closes.
PS: I am able to work on my other Projects fine...
Any ideas on how to fix the file -
