    Is there a way you can record while in VCR mode on a MiniDV? I am trying to record something from a TV that is directly being streamed out of it.

    If your camera has analogue input (some do, some don't), then you should be able to see the signal from the TV in camera mode, and record the signal. If you don't have analogue in then you won't be able to. Many of these camera will have Macrovision protection built-in, which may cause you problems. Generally the VCR mode is for playback only, but the best way to confirm this would be to read the manual.
