  3. Remove everything from the plugins folder. Does it still crash?

It could also be a bad VFW codec.

There is a VirtualdubMod 1.5.10.3 here if you're interested. He also has the latest Virtualdub and filters.

Another VirtualdubMod build here, VirtualDubMod Surround 1.6.0.0

Are you installing the entire VDubMod package, or downloading the update? (I know at one point they had an 'update' that only included the main .EXE and one or two other files.) Also, are you extracting everything from the .zip archives with the subdirectories intact? VirtualDubMod is a bit more critical about all of its files being in the proper place than VirtualDub.

...and speaking of VirtualDub, do you have any problems running that?

Hmm... not sure what in avisynth would be causing VDubMod to crash, unless you had it install a plugin in VDubMod's directories. Were you using the latest version of AVISynth?

Just letting you guys know that I too had encountered this problem tonight. I had built a new pc and this was my first time running vmod on it with the same crash upon the double click to start the program

my old pc where it worked fine was a win xp 32 bit home,
this new pc is a win xp 32bit pro

I do not use avisynth, however dvdrebuilder requires it and installs ver 2.5 on your pc. Dvdrebuilder works fine on my new pc as well (though I did update avisynth after reading this post).

reading the posts, I downloaded a the slightly newer build from http://www.virtualdub-fr.org/telechargement which was listed above. In addition to this you should download the plugin package made to go with it (even though the instructions say to put them in a plugin32 folder, copy them to the regular plugin folder instead).

This version works and can now even input more than my previous Vdubmod could. No idea what was truly causing the error but at least with this build I no longer have to worry about it
