I am running Premiere CS2 on an XP machine.
P4 3.2, Asus P4P800 MB, 300Gb WD SATA Scratch drive, 256Mb Geforce 7600GS
There are numerous instability issues. Performing very simple tasks like splicing on the timeline, moving a clip on the timeline, changing the size of a clip etc will cause Premiere to hang for 15-20 seconds. During this time, Task Manager reports Premiere as Not Responding. It always comes back but it's very frustrating having to wait after every simple action.
Any ideas?

You've left out a key piece of information. What video format are you cutting? DV, HDV, MPEG2? It makes a difference.

I'm cutting PAL DV for NTSC output.
i.e an NTSC project, with imported PAL DV footage.
I had an inkling this may be the cause but not entirely sure.
