I have a monitor that has a VGA port, however, it also has a HDMI port. Is it possible to have a way that the VGA lead somehow gets changed into HDMI? The reason being that the output of my arcade machine is 4:3 and it wont auto adjust and stretch the image to widescreen.

    thanks,

    Barry

  2. Does your arcade machine have an HDMI output? VGA is an analog signal and HDMI is a digital one, the two don't mix. DVI has pins to carry the analog signal, that's why you can use a DVI to VGA adapter with it.

Not all DVI connectors have analog available. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface You can get cables that will output the VGA signal from the correct type of DVI connector, or you can get a DVI to HDMI cable if your box has a DVI output. The formats you will have available depend on the box and the displays settings.

What is the arcade game and what output connections are available?

What are the output settings available in the menus?

Such monitors usually accept only DVI-D on the HDMI port. Your game only outputs analog VGA.

If your monitor won't manual H-Size adjust for a 4:3 VGA input (which I doubt), you are out of luck.

If you want something that will auto adjust aspect ratio, then you need to replace the monitor with an LCD-TV but test the TV before you buy.
