Advice with HDMI to DVI setup

I have a 2004 Sony 50" Grand Wega 720p/1080i tv. It does not have an HDMI input, and only 1 x DVI.

I would like use my HD satellite receiver and my laptop with this tv. Both the receiver and the laptop have HDMI outputs but no DVI outputs.

I was planning to get this cable:

to enable me to connect both hdmi outputs to this tv. I believe there should be no issues, however, I just wanted to post before I make the purchase in case someone is aware of any incompatibility issues.

Those should work as long as your TV supports HDCP. Try the cable alone first. $30 is a lot for a 10 foot HDMI/DVI cable. DVI doesn't carry audio so you'll need to run audio separately.

I use their cables for HDMI and they work fine. My longest run is to my projector, about 45ft, and no problems. I also have their 4 input HDMI switcher and now wish I had got a 5 or 6 input switcher.

I need some help.

I have a Boxlight 750M projector, I want to use it as my projector for a home theater. I have an Onkyo HT s6100 receiver, I want to connect my cable box, Xbox to the reciever using HDMI connection and run to the projector which has a DVI (10 x3 pin set up) using the receiver HDMI output. I can not find a DVI (30x3 pin) to HDMI cable. What is my best solution/aternative?

Try an M1 to HDMI adapter:

Or try a DVI to DVI M1 adapter along with a HDMI/DVI cable.

I looked at the adapter, it looks like it would work. I called Infocus to discuss , they mentioned that beacuse my receiver is brand new, the encryption may or may not work with the projector.
Does this sound reasonable, is there encryption with HDMI?

HDMI devices use a 'handshake' between the devices to see that they are HDCP compliant. It usually works, but you never know till you try it. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-ba...ent_Protection

HDCP isn't required by HDMI or DVI. But most A/V sources will require HDCP. Your laptop should be able to connect without HDCP but you won't be able to play blu-ray discs (the player software will require HDCP). Your satellite receiver probably won't connect without HDCP.

How about Xbox 360 and FIOS set top boxes. I am using my Xbox as DVD as well?

FIOS and cable boxes will almost certainly require HDCP. Most upscaling DVD players also. Hollywood has worked very hard to lock up all those devices. I don't now about the game consoles.
