I need to take a file and use only the left portion of the file and paste in a different file for the right side of the wave, which freeware editor lets me do this and how do I do it?
I am hoping kristal audio does it as I will be doing most of my work with it
    Thanks

Audacity is free and it might let you do this. I know nothing about Kristal Audio.

  3. Yes, Audacity will let you split a stereo track in to separate left and right tracks, edit the tracks individually, and join separate left and right tracks into a stereo track.

  5. Audacity: Open a stereo track. At the top left of the track window (not the main window) you should see part of the track name and a little down arrow. Click on the name/arrow and select Split Stereo Track. You will now have two mono tracks. Close the one you don't want with the x button at the top left. Open your other audio file (it will open in a second window). Split the stereo tracks if necessary. Copy the track you want to the Copy/Paste buffer. Go back to the first window, paste the track. Click on the name/arrow and select Make Stereo Track.

  8. Another way to do the same thing in Audacity is to use File\Import\Audio to open the second wav file in the same window. Then you can split and delete the unwanted tracks and combine without having to copy/paste.
