On an Imac Intel Core 2 Duo converting AVI to DVD MPEG2,
either mpeg2enc or ffmpeg used to be a piece of cake with FFmpegx,
always separate Audio_TS and Video_TS folders were created.
For no clear reason occasionally it didn't work, but restarting FFmpegx
or the mac would do the trick and it worked again.
Now, whatever I do the .avi.ff.mpg - .avi.ff.mpg.s.mpg - .avi.ff.mpg.xml
are written but no Audio/Video folder is created afterwards.
Tried reinstalling the programm, but still the same, what to do?

Please post the Process Information log, accessible by clicking the blue "i" in the ffmpegX Progress window, so we know what was going on when it failed to create the VIDEO_TS folder.

I don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but you have spaces in your pathname (Tokyo tower tmp). Some modules within ffmpegx don't like special characters -- and this includes spaces -- so it is best to avoid them.
As an experiment, make sure that the pathname is free of these characters (e.g. to Tokyo_tower_tmp), and try again. Since it is choking on loading the subs, perhaps the software module that handles subs is one of those that is sensitive to the pathname format. This assumes, of course, that you have a .subs file somewhere. If not, then that's a problem. -

Perhaps you can try to find a matching text-based .srt file?
The only way I know to use VobSub on DVD is hardsubbing (making them permanently part of the video). It's described in one of BeardFan's posts. -
tomlee59 thanks for the tip,
renaming them gave a different result,
now I was able to open the link to finder,
still no Video_ts folder, I suppose this is
due to the unread subtitles?

Glad to hear that you made some progress, but to get all the way to the end will require taking care of the issue that Case identified. If you want selectable subtitles, they'll need to be in .srt format (these are available for a great many films). If all you have are .subs, then you can only "hard burn" the subtitles into the film (that is, make them a permanent part of the image). Could this be your problem?

Video_TS folder is back,
thanx for putting me on the right track,
BeardFan's hardsubbing is another matter,
haven't been able to reproduce BeardFan's post yet,
but... I will learn
