    Hi,

    It's bin a while but i'm back . Maybe someone can help me with this problem.

    I'm trying to encode an .avi file to DVD, but there is no .mpv appearing.
    Steps:
    Summary: AVI to DVD mpeg2enc
    Filters: VOB subtitles, Load sub .srt
    Options: no vcd scan, letterbox, Decode with mplayer, Altivec, Bicubic

    encode.

    The encoder engine, mpeg2enc, seems broken (malformed), hence no video encoding is taking place. Try downloading and installing it again. If it still fails, try this copy instead; it seems to have solved it for some users with continuous mpeg2enc problems.

    I'm going to:
    Install binaries
    select mpeg2enc -> locate (on my desktop)
    enter my password
    then install

    that's it.

    Missing from the steps you listed (I asked for excruciating detail, so I am assuming that those steps are truly all of the steps you followed) is an unzipping of the mpeg2enc archive. A zipfile is not a binary; it is a compressed archive. You must unzip first, and the unzipped result is what you will then point to. So, if you have been persistently omitting this important step, that would explain why you have had trouble all along.
