    Hi -

I am hoping to use ffmpeg to convert the 100s of mp4 files.
I had been using them with apple TV where H.264 works but now linux video player wont decode them.

Is there a way to transcode the files. An example of the encoding is:

    MP4
    H.264 decoder
    640 x 272
    Millions of colors
    AAC stereo LR
    48.000 khz
    data rate: 1615.51 kbits.

Is it possible to substitue the decoder (to apple mpg4 or other) without heavily deterorating the quality?
If so what do the settings look like - just match the original as much as possible?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure which video player you mean. VLC and MPlayer are popular video players for Linux and have no problem with MP4s encoded for AppleTV.
