Whenever I use any software, Windows begins with one particular FONT - CALIBRI . I hate this FONT.

How do I reset so Windows begins with a FONT that I choose, such as ARIEL?

'Control Panel>Display>Appearance>Advanced' and you should see the font settings for Windows in XP. Usually XP uses Tahoma.

Great! This seems to effect the FONT type of all my desktop words.....now they all go to the Ariel FONT.
    Thank you.

How do I do change it so as all my Microsoft Office 2007 software - EXCEL, PUBLISHER, and WORD automaticaly goes to the Ariel FONT?

Actually, Calibri is a much better font in every respect than Arial (not "Ariel"). Arial was a cheap knock-off of Helvetica, which Microsoft didn't want to pay the rights for. (The Scourge of Arial)

Calibri has real italics, not just slanted roman. (Look at the "f", "a", for instance.)

But, of the new "Vista" fonts, maybe you would prefer Corbel:

With MS Office 7, try this. I hate that Times Roman font.

    Setting the default within Word

    1. Launch Word. To open the Font dialog box, either click the button in the lower right corner of the "Font" group or press Ctrl-d .

    2. Choose the font type and size that you want to be the default every time you open Word.

    3. Click the Default... button in the bottom left corner of the Font window.

    4. When prompted to confirm, click Yes.
I don't know if that's global to the other MS programs in office. But you can do a internet search for it.
