  1. Hi,

I have an avi file with 2 subtitles embedded into the avi. These subs are selectable. Now I want to extract the 2 subs from the avi. I've read you can do it with avi-mux gui, but when I open the program the subs are not showing. Am I doing something wrong?
Note that one of the subs is Chinese and the other is English.

    Thanx in advance.

    Try also virtualdubmod, streams->stream list.

  3. Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately there's only the audiostream showing. However I do get this error when I open the file in VirtualdubMod.

    Anyone has anymore ideas?

AviMux is good... but only GraphEdit is omnipotent

  6. Thanx demkd. I've tried to use GraphEdit but I don't know what to do to make it work. I've read the help and tried to search for a manual for this but couldn't come up similar for my problem. Could anyone please tell me what steps to take with GraphEdit?

Click over that box that says DivX Subtitle Decoder, and delete it

and then play the graph as DEMKD pointed out

If it works, then SAVE YOUR GRAPH

    Menu File...SAVE

You can then use that GRAPH with tools like AVISYNTH to reencode or convert your AVI file

Is better to convert to MPEG2/DVD

    1) Remove ALL boxes EXCEPT "video 01.avi" & "DivX Demux"
    2) Menu Graph -> Insert Filters -> Direct Show Filters-> Dump
If you can't find "Dump" into tree of directshow filters
then search for/download dump.ax file and register it in system, close GraphEdit and repeat process from step 1.
    3) Press Insert Filter button.
    4) In popup window select output file for subs.
    5) Connect "Subtitle" pin of "DivX Demux" with "Input" pin of "Dump" filter box.
    6) Press "Play the graph" button
Check output file in notepad and delete trash from first line(s).

Does anyone know how to extract subtitles from a DivX movie (XSUB subtitles) ... I tried to like the GraphEdit (DivX 7 + dump.ax filter) => not exporting anything, DivX Converter, Xilisoft, ProjectX, DVDFab, ConvertXtoDVD "sees" subtitle but does not extract ... It is visible for VLC, KMPlayer course DivXPlayer and probably longer ... of editors subtitles: SubtitleEdit manages to read but using OCR ... an hour and a half movie subtitles you realize how much work is ... I use Windows7x64. So does anyone know what else can be extracted?

I don't think it's possible. Even if it were you probably wouldn't be able to anything with them.
