    Hi,

    What are the Avisynth equivalent filters for the following Virtualdub plugins:

    * Chroma Noise Reduction
    * Dynamic Noise Reduction
    * Static Noise Reduction

  2. I'd say
    chroma noise reduction /neatvideo / msu denoiser

    But, neatvideo seem to have everything needed as far as noise is concerned in my opinion

    msu denoiser has spatial & temporal filtering capabilities but i don't find it good particulary for temporal filtering.

    Thanks but those filters are mainly for Virtualdub, I'm looking for avisynth ones.

    Chroma Noise Reduction: Fft3dfilter(plane=3) or 2 - read the docs on working with the U and V planes

    In Avisynth, the 2 basic types of denoising are referred to as spatial and temporal.

    "Spatial vs. Temporal Filtering - Some filters work within a frame. A resize filter, for example, only considers the contents of a single frame at a time. This is also referred to as a 2D or 2 Dimensional filter. Other filters analyze multiple frames to process each one. These are temporal, or time based, filters. Some filters even process both spatially and temporally, and are sometimes referred to as 3D or 3 Dimensional filters."

    Too many denoisers to list. And some are better for different types of noise and grain. Check out Fizick's Avisynth plugins for a selection of the more popular ones: http://avisynth.org.ru/fizick.html

    The "best" denoisers (so far) use motion compensation. MVtools is a plugin which provides this functionality.

    Then there are functions - a combination of script commands and plugins that perform a task.
