Drag and drop MKV file into Staxrip, it starts to work on file, once done it displays this error msg:

    DirectShowSource: couldn't open file c:\testmovie.264:
Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported.

I reply OK and Staxrip goes away.

    Any help appreciated

    thanks

  2. Do you have h.264 enabled in the ffdshow configuration? Can you play back the .mkv normally on your system? What are you using to decode h.264? ffdshow? coreavc?

Is your avisynth install current and not corrupt?

You might have to use mkvextractgui to separate the raw .264 stream, rename the extension manually to .h264, then repackage it back into .mkv container with mkvmergegui (along with the audio).

Re-installed Staxrip and re-installed via Staxrip installer the apps it needed.
Now file demux's but gets this error:

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Source script error
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Script error: there is no function named "DirectShowSource"

It seems Mr Staxrip may not know about Mr DirectShowSource.
    Fun fun fun.... grin...

    Thanks much

  4. You are probably missing DirectShowSource.dll in the C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins directory. I would uninstall then reinstall avisynth with minimal (or no) plugins

Or try Xvid4psp. Works fine with mkv sources here.

  6. The problem is your avisynth install is corrupted. It has nothing to do with Staxrip.

or as Baldrick suggested, Xvid4PSP installs its own avisynth subdirectory under C:\Program Files\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\plugins, so that should work too (for Xvid4PSP, not other programs which require the default install)

Even with multi install of avisynth via Staxrip (Staxrip will prompt if it needs something, so let it do the dl and isstall)... finally moved the .dll to windows/system and it is now working... go figure... grin

    Thanks to all
