    i have tried recently to burn a cd using windows media player of an album i had loaded wmp library and was able to do this but when i went to play the cd in a standalone cd player it would not recognise the disc if you upload music to your pc from an album or such what is the best program to use in order to burn a cd successfully so that it will play in ordinary cd players? all help appreciated

    You might try an older version of Musicmatch Jukebox. I'm not sure what version started being payware. I'm using 7.5 which is payware but I'm pretty sure that 5.1 is free (or nagware).

    Yahoo bought out Musicmatch Jukebox and offers a free version but you need to be carefull when installing so you don't install all the spyware that comes with it.

    Windows Media Player converts to wma audio files -- not CD Audio compliant. Go to the Tools section here and download cdrtfe (completely free). Rip CD tracks under its DAE tab and compile new CD compilations under its Audio CD tab.

    Nero, if you have it, can easily make audio CDs from WMA files. The current version of ImgBurn (free) can do the same as well.
