Hi. I have a DVD from a children movie that comes with the English audio track, and the Spanish (form Spain) audio track. I am form Latin America, and I would like to replace the Spanish track with the Latin audio track (which I got from another source, as a VHS rip in mp3).
So, what I have now is the retail DVD structure, and the mp3 with the Latin audio. The DVD is complex, and has many menus. The file structure under VIDEO_TS is as follows:
    Code:
    24K jul 19 01:59 VIDEO_TS.BUP
     24K jul 19 01:59 VIDEO_TS.IFO

The feature film is in the last four VOBs (VTS_20_1, 2, 3 & 4). 20_0 is the main menu.
How do I replace the Spanish audio track with the Latin audio track that I have stored in mp3?
I've tried with many tools with no luck. Many of them have a "PGC" editor, but I can't find a way to incorporate new files to the DVD structure. My guess is that I need to reencode the last four VTS with the new audio, but everything would be much simpler if the movie was in a single file.

Please help. I've read several other posts that have similar problems but couldn't nail this one. I can use any software for Linux or Windows (freeware, trialware or paid).

  2. first you need to rip the dvd - movie only to your hard drive. use dvdfab decryptor. next you need to demux the audio and video out of the vobs. not knowing what tools you have i can't say what to use but normally i'd say dvdlab as you are going to need to make a new dvd anyway.

once you have the video only .m2v file you need to make a new audio file to go with it. the mp3 track is useless as is. dvd audio needs to be lpcm wav or dd ac-3. so use an audio editor or whatever you have to convert to ac-3 preferably. once you have the new audio file import it and the old video .m2v file into dvdlab and author a new dvd, movie only.

no guarantee the audio will be in sync with the video as it's from a different source.

Don't forget to convert the mp3 audio to 48khz. I'm suspecting you made the mp3 file in 44.1khz which is cd audio standard. Dvd uses 48khz. FYI. (you still need to have it converted to lpcm or dolby digital ac3 as minidv2dvd said in the post above).

That's the whole point. I posted because I don't know how to do it KEEPING the menus and extras that are in the retail DVD. How can I do that?

  5. How can I do that?
Put the whole DVD on the hard drive (DVD Decrypter or DVDFab HD Decrypter). Demux the PGC containing the movie (PGCDemux). Take your MP3 audio and convert it to 48kHz AC3 audio (lots of ways). Remux the video, chapters, subs (if any) and new audio (Muxman). Take that new and edited DVD and replace it in the original DVD using the "Replace" button of VobBlanker. Burn to disc (ImgBurn). You'll keep the menus and anything else that was in there. If it was originally a DVD9, you'll have to either use a DVD9 yourself, or start removing the junk in the DVD and lower its size if necessary. And it still may not work out very well unless the MP3 audio is exactly the same length as the DVD audio. You may have to find and set a delay, stretch it to fit, or worse.

it would be wise to get it working movie only first. the extra aren't going to be in the new language anyway. and if perchance you do get it to sync, then try for the whole thing.

Thank you very much for your replies. Iīve done as you indicated, but I didnīt get such a good result. Subtitles were surrounded by a white stripe in the newly muxed DVD, and, as you foresaw, the new audio track got out of sync.
I guess this is too much trouble to take. I think itīs much easier to search for a Latin DVD of the movie.
The tools are there for the one who really wants to do such a job, I must admit it. But it is time consuming. Itīs not that simple.

Youīve been very helpful and quick (even if I didnīt get where I wanted to). Thank you.
