  1. Hey I used DVD shrink to rip a DVD from a damaged disc onto my computers HDD so I could then burn it back onto a new DVD-R disc. But when I do the VIDEO_TS folder with all the VOB, IFO and BUP files in it burns back on the disc as data on a DVD disc that my DVD player wont play.. only my computer and PS3 will play the disc. how can I record it so it records in the same file system as a DVD Video disc is recorded. I am using Roxio easy media creator atm on Vista.

Don't use Roxio, but here's the instructions frm the manual, is this what you are doing?

To copy a disc, disc image file, or DVD-Video folder:
1 In Video Copy & Convert, click DVD-Video Copy if you are not
    already in DVD-Video Copy mode.
2 Select the source to copy:
    ■ If you are copying a disc, insert the disc that you want to copy
    into your source drive.
In the Source area, select the drive containing the source disc
from the drop-down list. (This may already be selected by
    default.)
    ■ If you are copying a disc image file or DVD-Video folder, select
Browse for Disc Image/DVD-Video Folder from the dropdown
list in the Source area, and then click Browse to locate the
    file you want to copy.
For more information about disc image files and DVD-Video
folders, see DVD-Video sources you can copy from on page 164.
The contents of the source appear in the Contents area of the Source
    area.
3 Optional: Click Language Options to select language options.
For more information, click the Help button in the Language Options
    dialog box.
4 In the Destination area, select one of the following from the dropdown
    list:
    ■ the drive containing the destination disc (if you have only one
recorder, the drive is selected by default)
    ■ Disc image file
    ■ DVD-Video folder
Copying video and creating video compilations
    Copying DVD-Video 167
5 Select the write speed and enter the number of copies to create.
Note These options are only available if you are copying to disc,
not if you are copying to disc image file or DVD-Video folder.
6 Optional: Select Include Data (ROM) Content from Source if you
want the copy to include data files that are not part of the DVD-Video
portion of the disc or folder.
Note Selecting this option will add all files and folders that are in
the same folder as the source DVD-Video folder. Adding data
content may decrease the quality of the video.
7 To begin copying immediately, click the Copy button (or the Save As
button, if you selected a DVD-Video folder or disc image file for the
    output).
Note The Copy/Save As button has two modes—Copy Now to
start burning immediately, and Advanced Copy to launch the
Burn dialog before copying. The Burn dialog lets you select
additional options such as burning to more than one drive. To
select a mode, click the arrow beside the Copy/Save As button,
and then select Copy Now or Advanced Copy.
For more information, click the Help button in the Burn dialog box
or the Project Settings dialog box.
The Recording Progress dialog box appears and displays the progress.
Follow the instructions on the screen. When you are done recording,
the dialog box indicates that the copy is complete.
Many people prefer to use Imgburn which works very well.

When I rip a disc with Roxio Easy Media Creator 9.1, it converts the disc to about 11 .mpg files that are about 350MB each. I used Adobe Premiere Elements 4 to do the same thing and it converted them to 5 .vob files of about 800MB each. I then tried to edit the .vob files in the video editor with Roxio, and Roxio would not recognize the files. Maybe this is why Roxio only sees your .vob files as data files.

I haven't tried Imgburn, but everybody on here sure seems to like it.

Just FYI (and not related to your problem) Roxio is great at editing video clips and transitions and very easy to use for that. But it is horrible at converting digital video to MPEG-2 files for burning a DVD. When you play the disc it will be jumpy and erratic--but still watchable. When I'm done editing in Roxio, I output the file as DV-AVI and then use Adobe Premiere Elements 4 to convert that same DV file into MPEG-2 for burning the DVD. Adobe does this all in one step. Adobe is more difficult to use as an editor but it does a great job of encoding DV files to MPEG-2 for DVD.
