    Greetings,
When I power up this recorder the RCA logo appears while the "Hello" message is being displayed, but as soon as it switches to "menu" I lose the video signal.Audio still comes through, and I've changed cables, tried both the RCA jack and super video to no avail.Tech support has been useless, and I tried formatting the HDD which didn't help either. It worked great for 100+ DVDs before this problem arose.I assume this problem is not related to the HDD,as it spins up when the power is turned on.Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    TIA
    Ronnie

  2. Did you maybe get it set on progressive by mistake? You need to try resetting the recorder. Pressing the power on the unit for about 10 seconds works on a lot of stuff.

Yes,I've tried resetting it several times.Leaving it unplugged for several days and holding in the power button finally reset the clock, but still had the same problem.
    Thanks

Hi Ronnie. I hope I am not too late. I just read this post and I have helped with this problem in the past. The problem is that as the unit is cycling through its power on self test, the logo is displayed and as soon as it is ready, in your case, the progressive scan setting kicks in and disables the typical RCA Composite output (the red, white, yellow cables). To disable the progressive scan on your unit, simply press the small round button on the remote labeled "Video Out" next to the SETUP button. This will disable and/or enable such setting. Let me know if your headache clears after this tip

OK.Bought this unit off EBay,and it came with an universal remote, which of course doesn't have said button. There should be plenty of remotes available,so I'll get one and try it.
    Thanks a million

OK. If the universal remote is an RCA, then try pressing the Antenna button. If it is a different brand, then try pressing all the "un-ordinary" buttons...by un-ordinary, I mean the ones beside the typical play/pause/stop/rewind, etc... One of them should do the trick. Let me know how it goes and thanks for your reply.
