    I just got a Laptop with an hdmi output/input. Can I use it to capture HDV??

    Why would you want to? HDV through HDMI capture is a huge project vs. IEEE-1394 with no benefit. Live capture from the camera may or may not bypass the HDV codec.


    PS: This guy in Germany did the test with an HV20 and found the live vs. tape playback produced an equal result.
    That means the image is processed to HDV before the HDMI export. Maybe others have a different result?
